Activity 8: Assessment part Deux
This activity had a lot to it and at times I thought it had too many steps but after being done, I am glad I did it. There were two items in particular that stood out to me as things I am excited to use this year. I thought the branching part of this assignment was fantastic. I learned a whole lot that I did not know prior. I like the idea of guiding students through a form while using tutorials to help those who might have trouble.. The second item that excites me is Flubaroo.
The other day my team and I were working on planning out a flexible first 20 day schedule for math. We are going to use google forms to assess and check for student understanding of the standards. We are most excited about Forms' ability to put the data into a easily readable spreadsheet so we can pinpoint those students who need more practice or modeling. That data can also be used to differentiate groups for a given standard or skill. In the past I have become overwhelmed with assessing, checking, adjusting throughout the year. I think all the time it took to check slowed me down significantly. This ability to do the checking for me will improve my efficiency with gathering and using my classroom data. I am looking forward to all the potential forms brings into my classroom.
Both forms I created are on my blog under the language arts tab at the top of the page.
Really GREAT job! I loved the short video clip too..made it seem more "fun."
ReplyDeleteI love your forms and that you put them under your LA tab! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteYour Forms are a great example of how to liven up an assessment. The video clip was awesome! And I'm glad you put them write in your language arts tab so you are ready to use them with students. They are time-consuming to make, but I think they're a useful way to collect information on student progress, especially if you can create a branching form to help the kids who need more practice or guidance.
ReplyDeleteI think it will be exciting to create forms that our whole grade can use as common assessments. It's also a great way to gather and present data!
ReplyDeleteI think Flubaroo can be a great tool for all the TDAP work we have to do! Great when they calculate and make a visual for you.
